Name: Carol H. Rowe (Jax) Gender: Male Age: 34 Sexuality: Straight Abstract On the surface, Jax is a rebellious, self-proclaimed “badass”. He’s impulsive, confrontational, and a bit of a show-off, but he also has a not-so-hidden soft side. He cares deeply for the crew and god forbid anyone disrespect a woman in his presence. His role on the Silver Fox is a bit of everything; he can hold his own when it comes to mechanics and piloting, but his main purpose is to be an extra set of hands, and hired gun if need be. He gets stuck with the odd jobs a lot of the time, much to his annoyance. Basically, a rebellious dickwad with a heart of gold. Also deathly afraid of moths. |
Personality
Jax is a 34 year old man who acts like he's still in high school. His whole outwards personality revolves around being "cool", and he'll do just about anything to impress people and show off. He has a rarely shown geeky side, which mostly involves his love of physics and mechanics, but he keeps this quite hidden. His favorite phrases include "hold my beer" and "punch first, ask questions later". Under that flashy facade, however, is a cowardly train wreck of a man, who, when it comes down to it, would probably abandon his family and friends if it meant he'd get out unharmed. It's not that he doesn't love his friends and family. To the contrary, he'd do almost anything for those he cares about, but the one thing he can't bring himself to do is to risk himself. Jax, more than anything, wants to live.
Fears
He’s more afraid of moths than any grown man should be, but his deepest darkest fear is being abandoned by those he cares about. Not because he has issues with that in his past, but because he lowkey would do the same if his life was in danger.
Physical Traits
5'10'', lean, narrow frame but decently built. Wears glasses to correct his his vision, bleaches hair, and wears fingerless gloves because they "look badass".
Most often wears his work uniform. The casual uniform consists of a polo (which Jax cut the sleeves off of), black jeans, an unnecessarily showy belt, and loafers. More formal work attire is his jumpsuit, which is a tight black jumpsuit with a silver stripe running down the right side, knee-high airtight boots, and a utility belt.
Story
Carol was an only child. His mother was the owner of a large company, his father a government official. Ever since he was little, he had enormous responsibilities placed on his shoulders. He was expected to inherit the company and carry on their family's legacy. Carol, however, had other things in mind.
Growing up, he found escape in the narrow streets of the satellite colony he called home. There, from the age of 11, he fell in with the street racing crowd and gradually began to succumb to the life that came with it, all unbeknownst to his busy parents. By the time he was 17, Carol, or "Jax" as he had re-branded himself, knew he needed to escape. So by the time he turned 18, he took the first interstellar job he could find-- a position a security position on a cargo ship called the Silver Fox-- and he was off, leaving behind everything except for a small duffel bag of his belongings.
Originally, Jax had only planned for his Silver Fox job to be temporary, but 16 years later he remained the old ship's hired arms, and he found himself enjoying it. The crew was small, consisting of only him, the ship's Captain (a cranky old Irish Catholic man missing an arm), and the pilot, a short, non-binary raptor-like alien. They became like family over time, and got into their fair share of trouble, but always managed to pull through somehow. That is, until the Altraxian negotiations.
The Silver Fox crew had docked on Earth and was loading cargo, but this time was unusual. It was to one of the most important days in Earth's history; it was the day that the Altraxians came to Earth to potentially end the long, tense standoff that had been going on between the two races for decades. Meanwhile, the Silver Fox was taking on some peculiar cargo, as well as two passengers. A wheelchair-bound scientist by the name of Claire and her friend, a tall, mysterious bearded man by the name of Jameson, were overseeing the transportation of their cutting-edge scientific equipment. The captain's bubbly young niece showed up at the last second and guilted him into letting her work on the ship as an intern.
Everything had been accounted for and stored properly in their small transport ship, and the crew took their positions and began the short hop to the Silver Fox. They had just reached their ship and docked when they saw the Altraxian mothership arrive at Earth. And then it happened. The Silver Fox was violently wrenched from orbit as the sky around them went dark. Suddenly, they were hurdling through space, out of control and surrounded by unfamiliar planets and one very large black hole.
